Safety

Trampoline jumping can only be great fun when it is safe; that is why Etan only provides high quality trampolines with solid frames and extra thick safety pads.

Various accessories are available which make trampoline jumping even safer, such as safety nets, safety skirts, in-ground kits and rubber tiles.

For tips about the safe use of a trampoline, read below.

When buying a trampoline you should pay attention to the following:
• There has to be sufficient free space above the trampoline
• No ropes, overhanging branches or other possible obstacles should hang over the trampoline.
• See to it that the falling zone is always soft
• Never place the trampoline near walls, bordering buildings, houses, gates, playground equipment and other obstacles.
• See to it that there are no obstacles under the trampoline.
• The trampoline has to be placed on a level foundation.

In the Netherlands trampolines fall under the Commodities Act: toys.
At the moment there are no European standards, but Consumer and Safety has had the garden trampoline put on the agenda of the European committee for toy standards. At the moment work is being done one drawing up additional requirements for this type of trampolines.

Tips
• Pay attention to the stability of the trampoline.
• Tell children to climb down from the trampoline, do not allow them to jump off.
• Do not allow jumpers to turn summersaults on trampolines. This is very dangerous for anyone who has not had professional training in trampoline jumping. Neck, back or even brain injury may be the result
• Never allow more than one person at a time to jump on the trampoline.
• Only jump when the jumping cloth is dry and when there is not too much wind.
• Do not allow little children to jump without the supervision of an adult.
• When jumping, take care that the jumping mat does not get into contact with the frame or the ground.
• Take care that there are no holes between the jumping mat and the frame.
• Regularly check the trampoline for defects and, if any, repair them immediately.
• Us a ladder which can be easily attached or removed before and after use.
• Never leave a ladder or any other step near the trampoline when you have young children.
• Take care that the frame and springs have no sharp edges.
• Always take off your shoes.
• Always jump alone and in the middle of the trampoline.
When jumping with more people you will pay less attention to your own jumps. You can lose control over your own jump and by landing on the jumping mat simultaneously with the other jumper you can be “launched”.
• Do not jump on your knees. The risk that you will damage your back when you fall on your knees is far greater than when you fall on your bottom.
• Do not jump off the trampoline, but climb down from it. The ground does not bounce back and here again you can severely damage your knees and back.
• Do not go on the trampoline with a ball or any other object. You can easily lose your coordination and also hurt yourself badly.
